Standards for Excellence and Resource Development "Making Friends with Financial Statements"

Instructor: Stephanie Cory, CFRE, CAP, Licensed Standards for Excellence Consultant 

Standards for Excellence is a set of smart principles for nonprofit organizations, based on legal foundations of nonprofit management, governance and operations, and expanded to embrace fundamental values of integrity, honesty, fairness, responsibility and transparency. One of the six principle topics areas is Resource Development. 

The session will cover:

  • Introduction of Standards for Excellence and the Guiding Principle of Resource Development
  • Mastering financial statement

About the Instructor

Stephanie Cory has dedicated her career to the nonprofit sector since 2003. She currently splits her time as the inaugural director of philanthropy for Kendal~Crosslands Communities, a four-campus senior living community, and as a philanthropy and governance consultant. Previously Stephanie served as an executive director for a health advocacy organization as well as held development and program management roles for nonprofit organizations serving seniors and people with disabilities. Stephanie’s consulting practice focuses on grassroots nonprofits in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Stephanie has been a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) since 2008 and received her designation as a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) from the American College in 2007. A graduate of the Association of Fundraising Professional's (AFP) Faculty Training Academy, she has been an AFP Master Trainer since 2010. Stephanie is a Certified Governance Trainer through BoardSource and a Licensed Consultant through the Standards for Excellence® Institute. She earned bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Southern California. 

Stephanie is a frequent trainer on a variety of fundraising and nonprofit topics. She serves as the District G Representative on AFP’s international board of directors, the Forum of Executive Women – Delaware, and Old Brandywine Village. She is the immediate past president of the Junior League of Wilmington, DE.
