Position Open: Common Cause Delaware

Executive Director, Common Cause Delaware

Reports To: Regional Director for State Operations

Responsibilities: This is a part-time position whose initial, primary purpose will be to organize and lead a campaign to promote greater transparency and accountability around political spending in Delaware; also to organize and lobby for other good government objectives including redistricting reform, lobbying reform, and campaign finance reform; generate position papers, research, testimony, and press releases in support of Common Cause's legislative agenda; serve as spokesperson with the media and represent Common Cause at public events; develop partnerships with other appropriate public policy organizations to work on common issues; assist with fundraising through outreach to major donors, foundations, and event-planning; work with the Common Cause Board to establish meeting agendas and opportunities for the Board to work on projects to achieve the agency's objectives.

Qualifications: Commitment to Common Cause objectives; demonstrated leadership and organizing ability; excellent written and verbal communication skills; fundraising experience desirable but not required; administrative and organizational skills including the ability to set priorities and work productively to accomplish a diversity of tasks; strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft applications; experience with non-profit organizations and working with non-profits Boards; a self-starter who works well with people. Candidate must have a car and must be able to work evenings.

President/Executive Director of St. Patrick's Center, Inc.

St. Patrick's Center, a 501(c) non-profit established in 1971 to serve Wilmington, Delaware's East Side, seeks a dynamic leader for the position of President/Executive Director. This position reports directly to the Center's Board and is responsible for the overall administration of the Center's $500+ budget, senior and nutrition programs and social services. The Executive Director oversees and monitors the Center's operations and financial well-being, fundraising/development efforts and community activities. The Executive Director provides critical administrative support for the established and successful fundraising efforts of Wilmington's St. Patrick's Society–a volunteer group of professionals who raise a significant portion of the Center's yearly budget. Preferred but not required qualifications include a graduate degree in public/non-profit administration or related field or a minimum of five (5) years management and supervisory experience. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, a good sense of humor, is compelled to serve others and dedicated to developing a service-based organization that leads Wilmington's non-profit community.

  • Hands-on social service program/administrative experience
