About Hildy Gottlieb

Hildy Gottlieb is a social scientist and asker of powerful questions. She is the co-founder and Chief Boundary Pusher at Creating the Future, a living laboratory where people who want a better world learn how to bring out the best in people in any situation through the questions they ask in their daily lives.

Hildy began her career as a legislative aide to a City Council Member. She left politics to start and operate several successful for-profit ventures, including a commercial construction company, a plant nursery, and a commercial real estate brokerage, management, and business turnaround firm.

In 1993, she and her partner turned their business skills into making a difference. Through their consulting firm the pair became known across North America for assisting community organizations with strategy, governance, and resource development. By 1998, she had grown frustrated with the lack of significant improvement. Hildy aimed her turnaround skills at social change and leadership systems. The result has been world-changing work advanced by Creating the Future and her consulting/speaking.

Hildy is a TEDx speaker, as well as a contributor to The Huffington Post, and Stanford Social Innovation Review. Her books include Pollyanna Principles: Reinventing “Nonprofit Organizations” to Create the Future of Our World, FriendRaising: Community Engagement Strategies for Boards who Hate Fundraising but Love Making Friends, and Board Recruitment and Orientation: A Step-by-Step, Common Sense Guide.
