About the Delaware Revenue Solutions Working Group

The Delaware Revenue Solutions Working Group (DRSWG) is a coalition of Delaware nonprofit stakeholders committed to informing nonprofit leaders, staff, board members, and volunteers of recent state budget challenges. The DRSWG was formed in July and has met with key groups including the Joint Finance Committee, the Office of Management and Budget, the Controller General, the General Assembly, the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce, the Business Roundtable, the Committee of 100 and more to discuss how Delaware’s budget challenges affect the nonprofit sector.

 

Participants in the Working Group include:

  • Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (DANA)
  • Delaware Community Foundation (DCF)
  • Delaware Grantmakers Association (DGA)
  • Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP)
  • Ability Network of Delaware
  • United Way of Delaware (UWD)
  • University of Delaware Center for Community Research and Service (UDCCRS)

We will continue to inform the sector of updates, coordinate testimony of the sector at key OMB, JFC, and other meetings and advocate on behalf of Delaware’s nonprofit organizations. We welcome all nonprofits’ involvement in the group.


 

Resources


We recognize that nonprofit professionals are consumed with the responsibility of their own missions, which is why we have incorporated a synopsis of current events surrounding these issues, proposed solutions, and specific tailored information on how nonprofits are affected in one working paper. We have also compiled and provided an Advocacy Toolkit that includes more detail on how the Working Group came to be, key milestones in the budget process to track progress, advocacy ideas, a calendar of public meetings, and upcoming events for your use throughout this very important fiscal year. 


 

The Forum


On Tuesday, October 20, 2015, over 100 people representing more than 80 organizations, who either work in the nonprofit sector or sit on a board of directors, filled the seats in the community room at Delaware State Police Troop 2 facilities in Newark to hear from budget expert panelists and lend their voice to the budget issue. Panelists included Rep. Melanie George Smith of the Joint Finance Committee, Bert Scoglietti from the Office of Management and Budget, James DeChene from the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce, and Cerron Cade, the Office of the Governor.
