Kathryn Soja Johnson
Title: Programs and Event Manager
Kathryn Soja Johnson is pleased to join the DANA team as Program and Event Manager. Kate holds a BS in Finance and a Master’s degree in Community Development and Nonprofit Leadership; both from the University of Delaware.
Kate began shaping her career as a Research Assistant in the University of Delaware’s Center for Community Research and Service where she worked on numerous projects including “Blueprint Communities” and a Southbridge (Wilmington, DE) Business Survey. Both of these projects were funded by federal entities and were created to investigate the needs of struggling neighborhoods across the state and to offer solutions to residents, businesses, and other stakeholders throughout the communities.
Upon completion of her MA in 2010, Kate transitioned to the nonprofit sector when she joined City Fare Meals on Wheels, a program operated by St. Anthony’s Community Center in Wilmington. There, she served as the Volunteer and Development Director for five years. In addition to coordinating daily meal delivery to nearly 1,000 homebound seniors and people with disabilities, she worked on fundraising for multi-function community center. In 2014, Kate worked with a team of coworkers to develop a Cow Plop Bingo and Family Fun Day that infused the community center with much needed funds and netted over $10,000 in its inaugural year.
Currently, Kate is a member of the Next Generation of the Delaware Community Foundation where she works with like-minded young professionals to raise money for causes important to them as a group. Kate was a committee member for the 2015 Chips for Charity fundraiser and serves as co-chairperson for the March 2016 event. She also serves as a committee member for her high school’s annual fundraiser and enjoys volunteering on local campaigns.
Kate lives in Wilmington with her husband Chris.
