Philanthropy Day 2013

Dear Colleagues:

We invite you to attend the Brandywine Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ presentation of Philanthropy Day 2013 on November 20th from 8:30-4:30 at the Chase Center in Wilmington.

The opening dialogue session will bring together leaders from the Delaware Grantmakers Association (DGA), Board Members, Executive Directors, and Development professionals for a discussion on the future of philanthropy in Delaware. It is critical that you attend. This discussion will consist of an overview of Delaware’s philanthropic environment provided by DGA Chair, Peter Morrow, followed by a lively, facilitated discussion among a panel, representing the diverse aspects of Delaware’s philanthropic community. These include large and small, upstate and downstate funders, along with executives representing small, large, publicly and privately funded organizations. The economic recovery, while not as robust and quick as we’d like, has improved conditions for some nonprofits, but others continue to struggle. In the spirit of collaboration, Delaware Grantmakers Association, Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement, and the Brandywine Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, ask that you join us at this important crossroads to be part of the larger discussions and issues affecting the Delaware nonprofit sector. How can we improve and enhance philanthropy in the First State? Where are the fundraising gaps? How can we work together more effectively?

Don’t let your voice be left out of the discussion! While our panel will touch on the issues above, the dialogue will be open for all in attendance to add to the conversation. This is your chance to influence the thinking of the top funders in the state, and everyone’s chance to listen.

We encourage corporate and foundation funders, executive directors, and your board members to join us for an energetic conversation – this is our chance for all stakeholders to name and discuss today’s issues and challenges. The agenda for the remainder of the day is packed, the speakers are nationally acclaimed, the awards recognize top leaders in the philanthropic community, and anyone with a stake in Delaware’s fundraising environment should be there. We hope to you and your board members will join us.
