The Chronicle of Philanthropy – Even if you don’t have a subscription, you can browse many articles and keep stay up to date on trends in fundraising, donor perspectives, and specific service areas. The Chronicle of Philanthropy also has their own interactive report on "How America Gives.”


The Foundation Center – The Foundation Center provides a searchable grant database where you can find foundations and other grant makers that fit your organizations mission and focus. Full access is available on site at the University of Delaware Library, UD’s Center for Community Research and Service in Wilmington, the Dover Library, and the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.

Philanthropy News Digest – A service of the Foundation Center where you can stay up to date on trends impacting the nonprofit and giving sectors, along with search for jobs, review requests for proposals, and browse thousands of free research titles.

GuideStar – Look up any registered nonprofit to get a snapshot of their programming, revenue and expenses, along with their complete 990s. Log in (its free!) to see details of an organization, write a review, or update your organization’s information.

Unemployment Services Trust (UST) - The Unemployment Services Trust (UST) is an alternative to paying state unemployment taxes for nonprofits, as allowed by Federal law. With the ability to save thousands on unemployment costs annually, e-File unemployment claims with the state, and access expert HR Advisors through our HR Hotline and Library — more than 2,000 nonprofits have chosen to join UST. UST Mission: Providing nonprofits with workforce solutions that reduce costs and strengthen their missions.


The Internal Revenue Service – The IRS is the direct source for much of the data that out there, including what is used by the Foundation Center, GuideStar, and the NCCS. Go directly to the source to look up nonprofit organizations and review the current requirements and regulations.
